It's not Y2K, it's stupidity! DominoPower Magazine - September 1999 Tonight, I decided to get on my soapbox. Hundreds of thousands of people read our publications. Maybe if we all started a "let's not be friggin' stupid" campaign, Y2K would work out fine. You're all pretty influential folks. Don't ignore your companies' Y2K efforts. Check into them. Make sure they're spending time making critical systems work and not screwing around being idiotic. Let's try not to put the fate of the world into the hands of a bunch of poorly-trained temps reading off a script.
Important answers to Y2K questions DominoPower Magazine - August 1999 In five months, the 21st century will be upon us. The Y2K issue is something we've all become quite aware of. Since January is closing in on us at breakneck speed, we thought it time to bring you some exclusive Y2K tips from Kelly C Bourne, one of the country's leading experts and the author of Year 2000 Solutions for Dummies.
Systemic triage DominoPower Magazine - October 1998 Just how dire is the Year 2000 crisis? And how can we, as systems managers, prioritize the important stuff? In this important article, world famous Y2K expert Peter de Jager (who's testified in front of Congress on Y2k, for all the good it did) helps us understand how the medical term "triage" can be applied to making systems development choices in the face of the new millennium. While the later versions of Notes and Domino are Y2K compliant, earlier versions may not be. And your other systems may or may not be up to snuff. If you read Peter's article, at least you'll be prepared when the tough decisions have to be made.
