The hidden power of Domino messaging (continued)

Lotus Domino/Notes is perceived as a better groupware platform while other vendors' offerings are often seen as better messaging platforms. Much of this perception has to do with the heavy focus by Lotus and the Lotus Business Partner community on Domino groupware capabilities rather than any real lack of messaging features. Domino's flexibility, scalability, security, and multi-platform support sets it apart from other systems, even with regards to messaging.

Conclusion
Over the next few months, we will continue to focus on Internet standards-based messaging. I am looking forward to sharing the years of experience I've developed within this environment. Upcoming articles will include the following focus subjects:

  • SPAM and configuration of the SMTP MTA
  • Dial-Up SMTP Internet email delivery
  • POP and IMAP4 Usage/Configuration
  • Configuration of browser access to email and calendaring/scheduling functionality.

If you have any specific messaging concerns article ideas regarding the Domino or Notes platforms, please feel free to contact us at info@dominopower.com.
