The top nine things to do to get ready for Domino 5.0 (continued)

#8: Learn JavaScript
I know, I know, its tough to keep up with your current stuff, never mind learning new tricks. With the inclusion of the Java virtual machine in the Notes client, more and more of your applications can be developed and integrated using Java and JavaScript. If your Domino staff is large enough you should embark on the undertaking of getting one or more of your developers up to speed on these important, emerging languages.

#9: Begin to create your Release 5 migration plan TODAY
Whew ! Now that you've gotten all of the items mentioned above taken care of you can really begin to get ready for your migration to Release 5 of Domino. So, take a deep breath and do all of the traditional items for software migrations as well as some new ones. With the anticipated increase in Domino server performance, you may be able to do more server consolidation than in the past. If you consolidate servers, then your replication and connection scheme may change as well. Keep this in mind as one of many factors in your migration plan.

We'll be spending more time on this topic in the future. Stay tuned as the release date for Domino 5.0 approaches.
