Synchronizing to Notes with Pylon Conduit (continued)

Over the course of the last three months I've also had occasion to call the company four or five times and the phone has never been answered by a human being, only an answering machine. In their defense, I have called them twice for issues which were not covered in the documentation and left a message asking for assistance. On both occasions the call was returned by the main developer of the conduit the same day.

[We took issue with Globalware's support when we originally ran this article in PalmPower. Globalware still does not appear to have someone available to answer phone support calls. However, Globalware has also added more support offerings with its online discussion database. The company claims this forum has been an excellent support tool for Pylon's users.

The company also reports it's made attempts to improve it's overall quality. In addition to winning an Editor's Choice Gold award from Lotus Notes & Domino Advisor, PylonPro has recently passed the strenuous Platinum certification of Palm Computing. --DG]

Summary
While using this product, I was consistently left with the feeling that this product was written by people who really know and use Notes and really know the PalmPilot. If an option was necessary to make the software work in a variety of situations for a variety of users, the developers of the product implemented it.

If you need to integrate your Lotus Notes mail, calendar and to do list with your PalmPilot there are only a few choices to choose from. If your needs mandate more flexibility than is available in Lotus' offering, then the Pylon Conduit is a solid but somewhat pricey choice.

[Globalware's new offering, PylonPro, adds support for fully customized Lotus Notes databases. No programming is necessary. To automatically create a custom Palm Device application, a user can just select a Notes database, form, and a view, and then synchronize with their Palm Device. The centerpiece of PylonPro is the SmartDesigner technology. The SmartDesigner enables virtually any Lotus Notes database to run on a new Palm Device client application. The PylonPro client's user interface is highly configurable, a flexibility controlled by the design of the Lotus Notes database itself. --DG]
