Upgrading to Notes and Domino R5: an investment in your future (continued)

To maximize productivity, automated mail server usage reporting lets you proactively manage and optimize the messaging environment through direct statistical analysis of server performance and connectivity. In addition, the enhanced messaging management features provide for unmatched routing control. These tools also allow you and your Help Desk staff to track all messages, even cross-domain, and to perform more extensive queries, searches, or report generations on messages and their performance within the domain, thereby reducing communication costs.

Downtime costs
With the new transactional logging feature in R5, you can be sure that you'll experience no data loss should your system fail. The system will quickly restart and recover to the last successful log, increasing both the availability and reliability of your system.

Another new feature is online, in-place compaction. Domino R5 can deliver 24x7 availability because you can let your users continue working in critical applications (like mail) while compacting those mail files and databases. Also with Domino's advanced clustering capabilities, you have the opportunity to setup your deployment to deliver fail-over and load balancing for Notes clients. Clustering is supported both across versions of Domino R4.x and R5 as well as across the operating system, giving administrators enhanced flexibility and control over their deployment. New in R5, Domino delivers these same capabilities to browsers, so your mission critical applications are available whenever needed and cross-platform.

Lotus understands the need to evaluate the cost of owning and operating a messaging and collaborative solution. We believe Notes and Domino R5 goes beyond helping to lower TCO by delivering tools to increase your return on investment (ROI). Not only do we believe R5 can lower your cost of ownership, it takes your infrastructure investment and lets you do more for your employees, customers and partners. Lotus believes that Notes and Domino, with Release 5, continues to deliver significantly greater return on investment than other messaging programs. Notes and Domino R5's "Grow-As-You-Go" capabilities let you invest in your future.

Notes and Domino Release 5 is expected to be released by the end of 1998. You can download a beta version or obtain more information about Lotus Notes and Domino R5 at http://www.lotus.com/r5preview.
