Managing clusters and intra-cluster traffic (continued)

Preparing Notes
The next step is preparing Lotus Notes. From the administrator workplace open the Public Address Book.

First, make changes in the server documents of the cluster-servers by adding, in the Network Configuration section, a new port called CLPORT, as shown in Figure D.

We've set up the port for SERVER2/COMPANY/RU. You'll also need to do the same, separately, for Server 1. Roll over picture for a larger image.

Now, carefully check all connection documents and correct those related to the interaction between servers inside the cluster. This needs to be done to make sure you're talking to the servers inside the cluster according to their new addresses. See Figure E as an example.

Update each cluster's port
The following actions have to be done on every server of a cluster.

Stop the Lotus Notes Server by using the Exit command. After this, start an administrative client. Select Tools->User Preferences from the File menu. In the Ports section of the dialog, click the New button and add a port called CLPORT with the TCP driver, as shown in Figure F. Then click Apply. Click OK and exit the administrative client.

Don't forget to set up your new port. Roll over picture for a larger image.

Next, on each cluster, find NOTES.INI on the server and add to it the following lines:

SERVER1/COMPANY/RU SERVER2/COMPANY/RU

CLPORT_TcpIpAddress=0,192.168.3.3:5000

Server_Cluster_Default_Port=CLPORT CLPORT_TcpIpAddress=0,192.168.3.9:5000
Server_Cluster_Default_Port=CLPORT
Finally, power on the server and everything should run properly.
