There was a box lunch provided, which included a tin of Lemonheads with the R5 logo on it. Later in the week, I caught some guys throwing these Lemonheads into the perfectly manucured bushes at one of the hotels, claiming that they were Lemonhead-seeds. It was fun to imagine Lemonhead trees mysteriously cropping up all over the carefully landscaped Disney property, bearing little Lemonheads with R5 logos as fruit.

My co-worker Donna Rose (shown in Figure A) and I walked around the product showcase talking to everyone, meeting people, spreading the word about DominoPower, and finding out about all the fascinating things people are doing to add value to Notes and Domino. It seemed like everyone on the show floor was jazzed and having a good time working hard.

In the early evening, Donna and I were off to the press reception held on the Disney Boardwalk. Ironically enough, it was harder to get near the Lotus executives at the press briefing than it was at any other time during the show. I guess that's what happens when you get all the press people and all the executives in one room, at one time. However, I did see evidence of what a good server Domino is, as shown in Figure B.

That night a bunch of people who have written for DominoPower went out to Cafe TuTu Tango to celebrate our association, as shown in Figure C. It was so nice spending time with these people in person after having collaborated with them over the telephone and email for so long.

After the Cafe, we went back to our respective hotels and retired to the hot tubs to soothe our aching bodies. It really helped after walking around the product showcase all day. Lots of folks had the same idea. It's mind-boggling to think of all the business-related stuff that was accomplished in the hot tubs at night. We're thinking of installing them here in the office.

Tuesday, January 19
Tuesday was another heavy day in the pit for the people working the show floor. The level of excitement was still definitely up.

Many people went to the Beacon Awards Tuesday night and had a great time, enjoying the awards ceremony, laughing at the commedian, and eating the great food. Ray Ozzi put in an appearance and spoke very fondly of continuing his association with the Notes community. His warmth seemed to put everyone in an even more cheerful mood.

At some point on Tuesday, an interesting phenomenon began to occur. People started to make their own cardboard "I AM" signs and run around with them, emulating the popular Lotus R5 "I AM SUPERMAN" commercial currently airing on TV. As close as I can pinpoint, the first person who started this was application developer Paul Bennett of Akrosoft (at http://www.akrosoft.com). Everyone who saw this got a kick out of it. People were laughing and singing "I am Superman" by REM, which is the song in the commercial.
