How to choose and find low cost Domino hosting providers (continued)
When I was young, the Internet didn't exist. People didn't have home pages, and you learned about computers on a limited basis, if at all, in high school. Now, the Internet proliferates in the lives of young people. I've seen incredible Web design from 14 year-olds. These young-adults can learn HTML, FrontPage, Java and more and place it on the Net cheaply. Because of this, more and more future developers are getting comfortable with the likes of FrontPage and basic HTML, and not with Domino. I think this is a problem for the future. There's already a shortage of good Domino developers, and it's only going to get worse.
Personally I don't believe that current Domino hosting providers are wrong in their pricing schemes or plans since they are targeting business customers. I just feel that there is a definite niche that needs to be filled. A niche that will cater to the developer that wants to host his databases as cheaply as can be done with standard HTML providers.
I think that inexpensive Domino hosting is necessary for the future. Not only for current developers that wish to place their work on the Web, but for the young programmers that want to find a career path. Release 5 of the Domino Designer promises to be a client that every Web designer can use.
Product availability and resources My research led me to the Domino hosting providers shown in Table A.
N/A means the information was not available tome via the Web or email requests for the information. Magma's pricing is approximate as it had to be converted from Canadian currency to U.S. Dollars
