The unofficial I AM Photo Journal (continued)
Having never run a promotion like this before, no one was sure what to expect. The creativity and fun in the 160 or so wonderful entries made it very hard to choose winners. Sacco said the winners were picked based on photos that had good signs, showed creativity, would go together well, and had a lot of personal involvement in them.
The entries included many pictures from Lotusphere. Business Partners and Lotus employees alike really got into the act. There were several pictures taken in front of the Swan hotel. Lots of pictures came from International folks, like the one submitted by Mick Campbell. His retro photo, shown in Figure B, is entitled "Dublin At The 70's Kickoff Party".

We've been waiting 20 years for this Superhuman software (think of it as "I am Retro"). Click picture for a larger image.
Another international entry entitled "I AM Buddhist (…sort of)", shown in Figure C, came from Osamu Higuchi.
FIGURE C
Surrounded by a bunch of Jizo Icons. Jizo, or Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, the guardian deity for children, is also believed to be the guardian of travelers and pregnant women. Click picture for a larger image.
There were dozens of babies with I AM signs. There were no dog pictures submitted, but there were a few cat pictures. A picture of Alex Wilson's cat Teaser, entitled "I AM Ready To Go Out Now," is shown in Figure D.
FIGURE D
This is Teaser "I AM mellow" Wilson. There aren't many cats in the world that would put up with this. Click picture for a larger image.
A few folks used Photoshop creatively to make their statements. See Figure E for Sotoris Tripolitsiotis' photo of the Parthenon sporting an I AM sign written in Greek. The photo is entitled "Even Gods agree…THEY ARE"!
FIGURE E

Another highly creative entry called "Domino Defeats Exchange", shown in Figure F, came from Chris Castellani.
FIGURE F

There were photos of people Scuba diving and skiing on a Mountain in Canada. There were two different photos submitted of I AM signs in front of Microsoft tradeshow booths. Lotus fans love to go after them! And although the folks judging the contest almost expected to receive a few offensive or nude photos (I AM Naked?), this actually didn't happen.
The most touching entry, though, came from a gentleman who wanted to meet other people. His photo was entitled simply, "I AM lonely".
The I AM Photo Journal promotion was a great success, everyone involved had a fun time. Even though the contest is over, if you want to send your I AM photo to me here at denise@dominopower.com, who knows? Maybe it'll end up in DominoPower someday.
Denise Amrich is managing editor of Dominopower and a loves to get the scoop on all the dirt and "unofficial reports". Her nickname around here is "Miss All-The-News-That's-Fit-to-Print". Is that fair? She can be reached via email at denise@dominopower.com.
