DOMINOPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com
By Heather McDaniel

For those of you who are looking to buy or sell real estate in the Columbus, Ohio area of the United States, pay a visit to DominoPower Magazine's Site of the Month for July, ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com. Even if you, like us, don't have any immediate plans to buy or sell real estate in the Columbus area, you should still check out ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com, to see how Domino is implemented on this interesting Web site.

The ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com site is a "For Sale by Owner" real estate site where property owners in the Columbus area can list properties they would like to sell.

If you look at Figure A, you can see at the top a promotional message that says that a real estate agent takes a US$3,000 - $6,000 commission on a $100,000 sale. ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com provides exposure for home sellers who want to bypass the costs of using a real estate agent.

Using Domino technology, the site includes functions such as a graphical navigation map of the Columbus area, views of related documents, form-based searching, online form submission, real-time mapping via a link to MapQuest, and full descriptions of homes (along with storage of up to six scanned photographs per home).

From ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com, you can connect to the site of Steve Doss Consulting, creator of the ForSaleOnTheWeb.Com Web site. Steve created the site to provide real-life examples of the Notes and Domino applications he's able to build.

We're going to help promote Steve's site for a moment because there are goodies there you can download. Steve includes downloads of applications such as a Notes Wizard example, a Notes menu tab example, a collection of Notes navigators, and an icons collection. If you look at how he's implemented his download area, you'll have an opportunity to explore the implementation of Notes for downloads.

Both sites provide great examples of what Notes/Domino can do. Check out the URLs in the box below.
