Looking forward to Lotusphere 2000 (continued)

"Richard is a lot bigger than I am and can probably beat me up. Can I be your friend, Richard?"

Richard's Guide to Lotusphere
Senior Technical Editor Richard Echeandia has a great article from the January 1999 issue of DominoPower at http://www.dominopower.com/issues/issue199902/technical001.html that will complement the site above well. Richard is another one of those multi-year Lotusphere veterans with some inside information that will help those of you who are new to the Lotusphere experience. This article could even provide some of you grizzled old veterans with a couple of extra tidbits of useful knowledge. And I'm not just saying all of these things because Richard is a lot bigger than I am and can probably beat me up. Or because he's the Senior Technical Editor and I'm trying to suck up. I'm saying it because the article is good. Real good. Really, really, really good. Can I be your friend, Richard?

Disney World Live Web Cams and 3-D Pictures
OK, so now that the rush you got by registering for Lotusphere has died down, you need a new source of excitement. Maybe you're just biding your time until you get to go to Lotusphere and want pursue an activity that lets you use technology and think about Mickey all at the same time. Well, my friend, the link above is the answer to your prayers.

For those of you too impatient to wait until January to see Disney World, you can follow http://asp.disney.go.com/disneyworld/db/havefun/hitechfun/index.asp to live Web cams of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios. You can even see a time lapse version of the previous day's Web cam to give you an overall feeling of what the weather is like there. If you really want to feel like you're in the middle of one of these places, you can view a QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) picture of any of the parks named above. This means you can pan 360 degrees and zoom in and out as you please. Very cool.

Cirque du Soleil at Disney World
Downtown Disney is a definite must visit for anyone going to Lotusphere. And I'm not just talking about Pleasure Island. If you're feeling like you want to get some culture amidst the hype, you definitely have to check out the new Cirque du Soleil show called "La Nouba." It's certainly not cheap, at $56.50 for adult admission, but it will definitely be an unforgettable experience. More information on "La Nouba" can be found at http://asp.disney.go.com/disneyworld/db/seetheworld/beyondtheparks/downtowndisney/cirqueindex.asp.

Stopped By The Disney Police
In case you didn't realize that Mickey and his friends have a dress code, read this article at http://www.jraskin.com/shirt.htm to find out the truth. Never mind that Donald is running around without any pants, the real question is Just what are those geckos doing on your T-shirt?

"Never mind that Donald is running around without any pants"

Is your attire corrupting the innocent minds of Disney World's younger visitors? Speaking of innocent minds, if you're easily offended by geckos in compromising positions, I strongly suggest that you don't go to the link above. Apparently, Mr. Toad isn't the only creature that Disney doesn't want to have a wild ride. Speaking of Mr. Toad, here's a special bonus link to the Bring Back Mr. Toad's Wild Ride page at http://www.kevin.welch.net/toad/.
