DOMINOPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
Keep in touch with family using Domino
By Heather McDaniel

So you have family members all over the place. How can you keep track of birthdays and events? Tang Development came up with a way to stay in touch with your family using Lotus Domino.

FamilyBeat.com, shown in Figure A, is powered by Lotus Domino and designed using Domino Designer. The Web site is a free service offering secure communication, an interactive calendar, your personal family space, and forms that allow you to add, edit, or delete information. Family members can use FamilyBeat.com to share things like pictures, special announcements, birthdays, and recipes. They can use it to plan family events like vacations, weddings and reunions. Lotus Notes/Domino's calendar function even allows for weekly reminders to be sent out.

When you log on to FamilyBeat.com, you're automatically logged on to the Sametime server. Through a Java applet, you can see what family members are online and initiate chats.
