DOMINOPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
Lotus Notes in free verse

Many may wonder what place the arts have in this wired world we've created. In this technological age, is there still room for classical intellectual pursuits such as poetry? As it happens, there is, for not only does the Internet act as a haven for information, popular entertainment, and advertisers, it also provides an outlet for creative writers in the form of online literary journals.
One of these is Red River Review, where Bob McCranie, has succeeded in combining the fine arts with computer science. The purpose of the journal, as it states on Red River Review's homepage, is to "publish quality poetry using the latest technology." The journal's accomplishment of this goal has earned it a place as DominoPower's Site of the Month.
Red River Review can be found at http://www.redriverreview.com. It was created using Lotus Notes 4.6. However, this month they plan on migrating up to Lotus Notes 5.0. The Review's homepage can be seen in Figure A.

Bob McCranie seems particularly suited for this melding of art and science. On the one hand, he received his Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Vermont College and is one of the founding members and a former editor of the Dallas Poets Community. Among his many credits, he has recently had poetry published in A&U--America's AIDS Magazine, RFD, and MindPurge. On the other hand, he is a Principal Certified Lotus Professional in R4 and a Certified Lotus Professional in R5.
Red River Review is published quarterly, entirely online. If you are interested in how Lotus Notes can be used to create a regular publication of literary merit, or if you simply, "enjoy being stirred and moved by language," you should point your browser to Red River Review.
