Reusing the Web address dialog from the R5 mail template (continued)
Take the line:
var selection = FixName(fieldEntryList.options[i].value);
|
and change it to:
var selection = fieldEntryList.options[i].text;
|
Then, look for the function stringToSelect(). Take the line:
and change it to:
Repeat this for the function selectToString().
If you make this change, you must make a slight change to the receiving fields on your calling form. For those fields that are multi-value, change the multi-value separator from comma to semi-colon. Making this change will allow you to use the hidden address book view "($PeopleGroupsFlat)", which lists names in last name-comma-first name order, to look up additional information.
Change the names of the return fields
Because of design constraints, you may not be able to use the standard field names ("SendTo", "CopyTo", etc.) on your form. It's easy to change the field names used by the address dialog form. In the onLoad event of the address dialog form, find the section of code that looks like the following:
if (AddrVersion == "Group") {
openerMembers = window.opener.document.forms[0].Members;
} else if (AddrVersion == "Delegate") {
openerDelegee = window.opener.document.forms[0].Delegee;
} else if (AddrVersion == "") {
openerSendTo = window.opener.document.forms[0].SendTo;
openerCopyTo = window.opener.document.forms[0].CopyTo;
openerBlindCopyTo = window.opener.document.forms[0].BlindCopyTo;
}
|
Change the field name at the right end of the appropriate statement to match the field name you want to use. For example, to use "NameField" instead of "SendTo", change the statement from:
openerSendTo = window.opener.document.forms[0].SendTo;
|
to:
openerSendTo = window.opener.document.forms[0].NameField;
|
Be careful to preserve the exact case of the field name.
Conclusion With very little effort, you can apply the full functionality of the Notes Web address dialog, making your applications easier to use and more professional looking. Simple modifications can customize the address dialog for the specific needs of your application's design and can improve the look and feel of the application.
