Update your resume as you tackle the new year

Whether or not landing a new job's on your agenda for the coming year, recording your accomplishments annually is a ritual all techies should undertake. Keeping tabs on your professional achievements now will make updating your resume a snap, saving time and effort during your next position change or job search.
Getting started
Open a new document on your computer and type Career Accomplishments 2000 at the top. Next, list the companies you worked for this past year and the titles you held. If you changed jobs or worked on multiple contracts, list the number of months you worked at each company. List all training courses, certifications, awards, and promotions you received. Mention any articles or tips you've written, and where they were published. Also make note of speaking engagements at user group meetings and any Lotus-related conferences you attended, including Lotusphere.
The rest of the survey is divided into three areas--for developers, project managers, and administrators--so jump to the section that applies to you.
Developers
Copy these sentences and fill in the blanks:

List the three best projects you completed in 2000 and write three to four sentences summarizing each project. Include the solution, the application provided, whom the project was for, the number of users, the technologies used, and the details of the project. Most importantly, list your role on each project. Congratulations, you just wrote history. Now hit Save, and you're ready to upgrade your resume at a moment's notice.
