Give a hoot, don't reboot: better ways to recover after a crash (continued)
FIGURE F

Here's the nice clean interface of NotesMedic. Roll over picture for a larger image.
This is huge from a user standpoint. One icon on the desktop starts the whole process automatically, and then clicking Launch gets you right back into a working environment. It couldn't get any easier. Also, NotesMedic lists all the processes it shut down, just as ZapNotes did, but you don't have to click into a menu to get the information.
The one thing NotesMedic lacks is the ability to edit an .ini file. This is hardly an issue, however, as it always closes the appropriate files and does so extremely quickly.
The verdict In all, both of these products take care of a problem that has nagged Notes users and support personnel for years. Both do it well, but I would have to give the edge to NotesMedic because of its speed and ease of use. Besides, zapping Notes sounds like something Microsoft has been trying to do for years. Me, I'd rather call a Medic.
