Career-building secret weapons (continued)

As a matter of fact, some of our advertisers even have job openings posted on their sites. Finding which ones is part of the scavenger hunt. So you might be able to win twice: you could win a course, or you might find a job opening you like.

One effective way to ensure job security is to make yourself indispensable. If you're a Notes developer, be sure to check out Dan Velasco's article about QuickPlace. He describes Lotus QuickPlace 2.0 as "hero-maker" software. This Web tool enables you to quickly and easily create a team workspace on the Web where your team can share and organize ideas and content. If you can successfully implement it in your organization and find enough cheerleaders to help you along the way, you'll score a career touchdown.

And, last but not least, if you're an independent Notes and Domino contractor, be sure to read Dan Simmons' column this month. As a Lotus Notes Recruiting Specialist, Contributing Editor Dan Simmons receives regular inquiries from Lotus Notes and Domino consultants as to the economy's health as it relates to their personal job prospects. This has prompted him to compile an insider's view on the state of the market, as well as a lot of specific advice for surfing choppy contracting waters.

As always, thanks for reading DominoPower Magazine. Please feel free to post the results of your career-building efforts on the DominoPower Powerboards or write to us and let us know what you're doing. Have fun adding the May issue of DominoPower to your arsenal of career secret-weapons.

DominoPower to you!
