DOMINOPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
Domino-Guru a home for all Domino.doc users
By Steve Niles
During an installation of Domino.doc at work, Neil Gower found it difficult to locate a Web site dedicated to users of Domino.doc. He was looking for a place where he could ask questions, exchange information, solve problems, and generally discuss the product with other users. Coming up short, Gower decided to do the next best thing. He created his own Web site to meet that criteria. The result was Domino-Guru at http://www.domino-guru.co.uk, and it's February's DominoPower Site of the Month. It's pictured in Figure A.

It was very important to Gower that the site should only use Domino to drive it. Gower worked on the site in his spare time, creating its design with Lotus Notes and Paint Shop Pro. He has updated the look and feel of the site several times as the number of users has grown. Domino-Guru started as a small time venture to see if there would be any interest in a site focused on Domino.doc. As more and more Domino.doc users found the site and became regular visitors, Gower felt he needed to make it look more professional.
When you visit the site, you'll find a number of cool features, such as a news feed, a lively Domino.doc forum, and an area displaying code examples. Gower has planned some future additions to the site, such as a monthly newsletter (65 users have already subscribed) and short articles on frequently asked questions. To further enhance the forum, Gower will be adding a private address book to enable users to authenticate with the site.
According to Gower, the most rewarding aspect of creating this site has been the rapid growth of users and the interest they have taken in Domino-Guru. In response to his request for suggestions for site enhancements, Gower received numerous ideas, and he will continue to expand the site accordingly. He hopes it will evolve into a popular stop for all Domino.doc users.
