Get wise with Wisdom for Notes (continued)

If I found the navigation bar was in my way, I could select Details, and the selections could be made from the bottom of the screen. When my phone rang, I didn't have to make excuses to a trainer.

Help, it's not listed!
So I explored the basic tasks, and I was feeling pretty comfortable. Now it's time to start using our "Special" database. Confidently, I checked the module list and sure enough there was an entry for the database along with associated tasks. Once the software has been purchased, Neural Solutions will provide an authoring tool so that modules and tasks can be created. However, this tool is only provided with on-site training. I was able to view the tool on the Web and follow a technician create modules and tasks. The tool appears to be quite powerful, and as a developer, I see it as an excellent solution for the perennial problem of how to train users on new applications.

To get more information on Wisdom for Notes, you can go to their Web site at http://www.neuralsolutions.com and either contact them or request they send you a demo copy of the software. An alternative is to find a copy of Notes 506-9 and use the software included in that version of Notes.

Wisdom for Notes definitely provides an important piece of the puzzle in the successful deployment and support of Notes and its associated applications. The initial list of modules and tasks appears to be complete and would offer not only new users an opportunity to learn the basics of Notes, but I'm sure there is coverage of topics that may only be used occasionally. I feel the strength of the tool, however, lies in the authoring tool and its ability to support training on customized applications.
