The easy bit--XML output
XML sounds intimidating if you haven't worked with it before, but the reality is that the XML output is the easy bit.

All you have to do is design the XML output structure (not hard at all--do a search on Google to find out how), create a Lotus Domino form, type in the XML structure, and then put the fields into the appropriate positions within the XML field structure.

It's just too easy. Don't tell anyone that XML is that easy or everyone will start using it.

Here are samples of the XML structures for you to check out.

The XML content document is at http://www.touchdown.com.au/tdwebsite/xmlcontent.xml.

The XML site menu is at http://www.touchdown.com.au/tdwebsite/xmlmainmenu.xml.

The XML site configuration document is at http://www.touchdown.com.au/tdwebsite/xmlsiteconfiguration.xml.

The XML text properties document is at http://www.touchdown.com.

Finally
On the day of the move, I drove the moving truck to my new apartment with a couple of friends to give me a hand moving everything in. What we found, however, was that there was no way to get the moving truck anywhere near the front of the apartment building. Instead, we had to park it in the street next door and lug everything up three flights of stairs before finally getting to the front of the building. Then we had to lug everything up another two flights of stairs to my front door.

What had taken one and a half easy hours to pack into the truck turned into a six-hour ordeal to unpack. I can still see the drained and exhausted expressions on my friends' faces as we got down to the final few boxes to bring in from the truck. Needless to say, they don't want to help me with any future house moves.

I can only imagine how much worse things would have been if I hadn't spent weeks throwing out, organizing, and packing.

There's a great metaphor for software development projects in there somewhere. You'll have to work out what it is, though, because I'm too tired from unpacking all those crates.

Happy programming.
