Become a WebSphere master with TLCC's Introduction to WebSphere 4.0 for Domino Developers (continued)
FIGURE G

Having both the Activity and WSAD screens open at the same time can help you complete the activities more quickly. Roll over picture for a larger image.
Print out lessons or modules from the course to take with you to study when away from your computer. They look especially nice when you print them out in color, but black and white copies will do as well. The reason for doing this is that sometimes you can get burnt out sitting and studying a class in front of the computer, and actually holding a printed copy of the lessons in your hands gives you a different experience that is very conducive to really studying, absorbing, and reflecting on the material being taught. It's also the best way to study a lesson in your hot tub without risking electrocution.
The course is best taken from start to finish in the order presented. Every lesson builds quite elegantly and naturally on the one that precedes it. While you can skip around and study something you might need to know immediately, make sure that you still study the course in the order presented in order to get the maximum benefit from it.
Set aside time to work on the class. If you wait for training time to just happen, then you're going to be discouraged in a few months when you discover that you still haven't made a sizeable dent in the course. Like I've said before, computer-based training classes like this one require a lot of motivation and determination to complete. But when you do complete them, they certainly can be very rewarding.
More information on this and other TLCC courses You can find more information about this course and related courses from the Introduction to WebSphere 4.0 for Domino Developers page at http://www.tlcc.com/admin/courses.nsf/lookupcoursecode/WSAD4DD1.
The cost of the course is $399. For that, you get 14 hours of training as well as four months access to the related discussion forums for the course.
TLCC also recommends the following prerequisite courses if you're not already really familiar with Java programming:
- TLCC's Beginner Java Programming for R5 Notes and Domino course or equivalent;
- TLCC's Intermediate Java Programming for R5 Notes and Domino course or equivalent.
If you want to take all three of the courses listed above, check out this great package deal that gives you all of them for one low price of $1,199, a $500 savings over the cost of purchasing each class separately. But hurry, as this offer ends on September 27, 2002, and after that it will go back to its regular price of $1,399. More information is available at http://www.tlcc.com/admin/courses.nsf/lookupcoursecode/JWSPKG.
I've taken both the Beginner and Intermediate Java Programming for R5 Notes and Domino classes and can definitely attest to the value of both of those courses as well. They helped me to pass the Using Java in Domino R5 Applications Exam (190-516) easily the first time I took it.
