New Lotus products tackle collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing (continued)

What's new in Sametime 3
Sametime 3 offers a number of new features, including:

  • Sametime 3 Instant Messaging Gateway, designed to allow organizations to share presence awareness and exchange instant messages between instant messaging communities;

  • New purchasing options for e-meetings with the Lotus Web Conferencing Service, which allows companies to use Sametime's Web conferencing functionality as a hosted service, delivered from IBM Global Services via a subscription-based purchase option;

  • Additional developer support with enhanced Sametime toolkits;

  • Support for mobile workers--Sametime EveryPlace lets mobile workers use presence awareness and secure instant messaging from PDAs and cell phones;

  • An enterprise meeting center;

  • Flexible Calendar integration--Sametime 3 now provides calendar integration with IBM Lotus Notes 6, Microsoft Outlook, or QuickPlace 3.

What's new in QuickPlace 3
QuickPlace 3 offers a number of new features, including:

  • Ability to search and enter team workspaces quickly and easily;

  • Easy to embed team collaboration for developers--the Java/XML API provides a standards-based interface so developers can embed team collaboration in any Web application such as a portal or Dynamic Workplace;

  • Threaded presence awareness;

  • Team Calendar and Personal Calendar integration;

  • Support for Microsoft Office XP.

Sametime 3 and QuickPlace 3 are available directly from IBM Lotus software and through IBM Business Partners specializing in Lotus solutions. Sametime 3 and QuickPlace 3 are both available on a per user basis. Lotus Web Conferencing is available on a concurrent usage basis.
