One of the great recommendations that Gary Devendorf made in his Webcast is to read through the section in the Domino Designer 6 documentation titled "What's new in this release?" This will quickly bring you up to speed on the important changes that have been made in Domino Designer 6 and will both reinforce and expand upon the content of Gary's Webcast.

While part of the reason that I wanted to get re-certified is because of my excitement about the release of ND6, other reasons included the fact that I'm currently in the middle of a job search (contact me at dvelasco@dominopower.com for more information) and the fact that I wanted to pass the update exam quickly so I could start focusing on other certifications, like the Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 certification exam which I'm taking later this month, and also certification in WebSphere (skate where the puck is going). There are also going to be certification options for QuickPlace, which I'm very excited about, and the relatively new CLP Collaborative Solutions certification paths look very tempting.

The bottom line is this: there's more to learn than ever, and the number of certification options are growing every month. If you don't know what your next certification goal is, make one up and get whatever tools you need to accomplish it. Then set a date and take the exam, not worrying about getting a perfect score but about passing the exam, keeping in mind that your goal is not just to have the certification but also to be able to implement the skills in the real world. Don't over-prepare and don't underestimate and you'll find yourself happily certified and ready for the new challenges ahead.
