WHAT'S NEW
New product line up for 2003
By Steve Niles
In the weeks surrounding Lotusphere, a lot of new products come down the pike. Let's take a look at some of the new products in store for this year.
WirelessMail Version 4 MartinScott (at http://www.MartinScott.com) is a provider of wireless email software for IBM Lotus Notes and Domino. This month, they'll be releasing a brand new product as well as updating an old favorite. Version 4 of their WirelessMail for Lotus Domino software will be coming out on January 27, featuring several enhancements and additions.
WirelessMail auto-forwards Lotus Notes emails to wireless devices like cell phones, text pagers, RIM pagers, Palm handhelds, and other PDAs. It runs on a Lotus Domino mail server as a background agent in user mailboxes.
The enhancements you'll see in Version 4 include improved support for recipient lists, file attachment suppression, multi-device forwarding, and MIME-compatible content filtering. There will be some other additions to Version 4, such as wireless remote control of configuration settings, improved statistics counters for users with per-message data service fees, and optional centralized user configuration for administrators.
If you want to try it out, there's a free 60-day full evaluation of WirelessMail at http://MartinScott.com/WirelessMail. If you're already a registered user of Version 3.x, you'll receive the 4.0 upgrade for free.
NoteMan MartinScott will also release a new product called NoteMan, a developer and administrator utility suite for Lotus Notes and Domino professionals. The software will include integrated tools designed to streamline frequently performed data, design, and security tasks.
NoteMan's features will include toolbar-launched user interfaces for:
- Changing, adding, removing, and retyping any computed or hidden field value;
- Changing any field across selected documents without creating an agent;
- Finding any document by NoteID or formula without creating a view;
- Viewing the complete listing of all document readers and authors;
- Comparing field value differences between any two documents;
- Merging conflict documents or choosing the conflict winner;
- Finding and editing any profile document;
- Saving to disk, loading from disk, and comparing database Access Control Lists (ACLs);
- Globally changing "prohibit design refresh" property across design elements;
- Unhiding a database design;
- Sharing a personal agent;
- In-view editing of design element names.
