Quick guide to using the Microsoft Outlook 2002 Connector with a Domino server (continued)

Officially, the Microsoft Outlook 2002 Connector is only supported for Notes and Domino R5. I was able to connect to my mail file on an ND6 server, though, and have not encountered any problems yet (but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this). One thing I really did like about the Connector is that it didn't require any template changes be made to my mail file like iNotes does. This makes it possible for a power user to configure and use the Connector without needing help from System Administrators, although it's always a good idea to ask first to make sure you don't violate any policies or cause any problems with your mail file.

I've now achieved my goal of having all of my email in one location where I can check it within a matter of seconds. I've got my Notes mail, POP3 mail, and Hotmail all living in harmony side-by-side. I even became so intrigued with Outlook 2002 that I studied for and passed the Microsoft Office Specialist test for Outlook 2002, which you can find more information about at http://mous.net. Now when someone asks me to explain the differences between the Notes client and Outlook I can speak with a little more authority and experience. And, as I said above, it's always interesting to find out how the other half lives and works.
