We review five Ytria tools that can save you time (continued)

You also have an export feature, which allows you to export documents in a text file. Just like almost every function in ScanEZ, you can export one document or all documents currently in the "My Selection" folder. Mmmm... Building a list of documents is easy through all search features offered and exporting them all in a blink of an eye: that's a bit faster than writing an agent.

One last thing: ScanEZ is run as a stand alone program, so while you are exporting documents, or anything else, you can switch back to Notes and work on something else. This can also be great when debugging agents: you can see the values change as the agent is running.

Since I started using ScanEZ, my toolset has been largely reduced. I don't have a need for three or four different tools anymore. ScanEZ covers a lot of the features we developers use often, and with all these possibilities packed in one tool, I can't see any developers not benefiting from what ScanEZ has to offer. I am using regularly and I am discovering new features almost every week.

AdaptEZ
There is another tool that I haven't yet mentioned, but is also very interesting. It is hard to define in its purpose, but basically, it's a tool that lets developers and users manage their field labels, colors and fonts, navigators so customizing the looks and static text is now a possibility.

The product, AdaptEZ, was used to refresh the look and field of an application we have. I used it to change all the fifteen views in the application so they all have the same fonts and colors. This operation took about thirty minutes using AdaptEZ, and that includes the time it took AdaptEZ to build its list of all design elements in the database. I can't imagine doing that job manually in such a short period.

This is only a small part of what AdaptEZ is capable of. I know that Ytria is currently working on getting AdaptEZ to work with Glossaries created by Global Workbench. This sounds great, as we do have to create bilingual application where I work. I really encourage you to go see the demos of AdaptEZ on Ytria's website.

In conclusion, I think you really should go and download evaluation copies of one or many Ytria products. They are big time savers and are really making it EZ-er (ok, easier) on some of our daily tasks. I would also act fast because pricing is really reasonable and their tools offer so much. I know I've had no efforts convincing my boss that these tools would really save more of my time than what he paid for, especially with the two years maintenance available (which I strongly suggest, since the tools are fairly new and I am sure we'll see lots of features added in upcoming releases). By the way, can you guess which tool is my favourite one?

You can get more information on Ytria's tools at http://www.ytria.com. Again, I really encourage you to take a couple of minutes of your time to check these tools out and believe me, you'll probably get a crush on them. I know I did.
