How Domino developers can learn servlet and JSP programming with WebSphere 5 (continued)
When the extraction is complete, you need to open the WSAD5DD2 Course Installation database (WSAD5DD2.nsf) with your Notes client. In the page that appears, click on the Install Course Files button. This will bring up a standard License Agreement page.
Read the agreement over and click on the I Agree to the terms of this License Agreement action button. The next page that opens provides you with two ways to install the course files. You can either use the Click Here to Install Course Files button to detach all four of the Notes databases, like shown in Figure A, or manually detach each of the databases.
FIGURE A

You can either detach the course databases manually, or use the Click Here to Install Course Files button. Roll over picture for a larger image.
If you decide to detach them manually, be sure to place them into the folder: \tlcc\wsad\wsad5dd2\. The demos and activities involving Domino and WebSphere integration will not work if the databases reside in a different folder.
Course structure Each module starts off with a brief overview, followed by the learning objectives of that particular module. Finally, the estimated amount of time expected for you to be able to complete the entire module, and all activities, is given. If you're not attempting to complete the entire course in four consecutive days (32 hours), you can use these time estimates to plan the modules you'll complete according to your own schedule. Be sure to allow yourself additional time to review previous lessons/modules in case you aren't able to work on the course for a significant period of time.
A module is comprised of several lessons, ranging from a minimum of four to a maximum of nine. Each lesson is designed so that it's easy to read on a computer screen. White space is used generously to signify the transition from one topic to another.
Each new section is introduced with its own heading, as well as an icon that helps to signify the type of material that'll be covered in the section, like in Figure B.
FIGURE B

A Procedure section has its own special icon, as well as a prominent heading. Roll over picture for a larger image.
For example, topics that discuss procedures in WebSphere Studio use an icon different from topics that focus on coding techniques. Each topic is discussed using small, concise paragraphs consisting of only a few sentences. The course also uses tables to help delineate individual concepts, like code syntax, help text, and the steps of a process.
Course content All of the topics presented in the lessons are written using a lucid, direct style that focuses solely on the material at hand. The information presented in each lesson is broken down into smaller sections, similar to a For Dummies book.
For example, a Procedure section shows you step by step how to do something in WSAD, while a Technique section shows you how to code something in Java. There are also "For Domino Developers", or "4dd" sections that help relate WebSphere concepts back to Lotus Notes and Domino concepts. For example, a "4dd" section in the 2nd module explains how an external class in Java is similar to a LotusScript or Java script library resource in Domino Designer.
