Building an automated signature generator application (continued)

FIGURE H

Using A HREF tags, I've made my signature "hot". Roll over picture for a larger image.

Ok, I'm blowing DominoPower's and my own trumpet a bit, but I guess that if I don't, nobody else will! You'll also note I changed the template a little, too. Now I have something I like.

Finally, go down to Step 5. That shows you the actual HTML that has been created. And if you like it, hit the "I like it" button. That will update your mail file preferences directly with the HTML. Figure I shows the dialog that appears if you aren't LAN connected.

FIGURE I

If you aren't on a LAN, you'll get a smart error message. Roll over picture for a larger image.

Putting all together, Figure J shows a new mail memo with the signature. Cool, huh?

FIGURE J

Here's a mail message with my cool, new signature. Roll over picture for a larger image.

Next week, we'll look at how an administrator can use this tool, maintain templates, and add some sweet tweaks. After that, we'll look at the application's code.
