If for any reason You are dissatisfied with the Program and You are the original licensee, You may obtain a refund of the amount You paid for it, if within 30 days of Your invoice date You return the Program and its PoE to the party from whom You obtained it. If You downloaded the Program, You may contact the party from whom You acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

You rarely see a money-back guarantee in a software license agreement, whether or not it's enterprise-level software. This gets IBM a definite "attaboy"!

The Notes license agreement is chock full of variations for different countries. For most countries, the agreement talks about jurisdiction, various rules, and proper procedure. But the tweak for Japan was so, well, Japanese, that I had to call it out here:

JAPAN: General (Section 5): The following is inserted after item 5: Any doubts concerning this Agreement will be initially resolved between us in good faith and in accordance with the principle of mutual trust.

You know, I wish that was in the full agreement for everyone. I'd hate to think that only Japan gets good faith and the principle of mutual trust.

In any case, if you're still willing to go forward, select "I accept" and click Next.

Now, it's time to enter your name and that of your company, as shown in Figure D and then click Next.

At this point, you'll be on the screen shown inf Figure E.

This is also a change in the installation process from earlier Notes releases. In earlier releases, you could choose where you wanted the Notes data to be placed as part of the installation process. In Notes 7, your data is just dumped in the default location. If you want to change it, you'll need to do so by hand, after the installation completes. Once again, click Next.

Next up, you'll see a screen, like that in Figure F, where you can decide what to install.

Normally, given that I've got a bunch of 400GB hard drives, I just let the program install everything. But I really don't need the migration tools or the single logon, so I let the Notes installer default to leaving them uninstalled. Once you've chosen all the options you want (the defaults are usually fine, by the way), click Next.

You're almost done setting install parameters. The last pre-install option is shown in Figure G.

You have the option of making Notes your default email program, if you leave this box checked. Because I have to move between lots of email clients as part of my job as a reviewer and editor, I usually don't let any client proclaim itself to be the default. But you'll probably just leave this checked.

Click Install and we're off to the races, as shown in Figure H.
