THIS WEEK'S POWERTIP
How to set Notes 7 to open in the Workspace
By David Gewirtz
Are you an old school Notes user? Are you someone who's used Notes since Notes 3 or Notes 4 and has grown to love the traditional Workspace? Notes has certainly improved over the releases, but one of the things I've missed most about the newer releases was the Workspace.
Oh, sure, it's in there (and so's pretty much everything else). But how do you set up Notes so the Workspace loads as your default screen, just like in the good ol' days?
It turns out the process is very simple and it's something I do almost immediately after I do a new Notes install. Once you've got Notes loaded, click on the database icon, as shown in Figure A.
FIGURE A
Click on the database icon. Click picture for a larger image.
As soon as you do, the Databases bookmark list will open. Right click on the Workspace icon, as shown in Figure B, and select Set Bookmark as Home Page.

Select the Workspace as your home page. Click picture for a larger image.
Notes will display the confirmation dialog shown in Figure C.
FIGURE C
Click Yes.
Simply click Yes and your Workspace is now your home page. All you need to do is quit Notes and relaunch, and you'll see your beautiful Workspace, right where it belongs, as shown in Figure D.

I love it when a plan comes together. Click picture for a larger image.
That's all there is to it.
