An in-depth look at the Notes 8 announcements (continued)

Clients
Coming down to earth a bit, there will also be a "traditional" Windows program client, too. That (so far) looks like the Notes 7 client, but with the new Notes 8 mail template. Still neat, but not anywhere near the Eclipse-based version, and I've no idea what else is left out, because I've only seen it once.

Lotus say the ship date for ND8 is mid year (I'd go for August), and a public beta will start at the end of Feb or early March. You need to plan to download and try it. Here at DominoPower, we'll be downloading it and reporting on it as soon as we can. You will be impressed.

A Linux Eclipse-based client will ship with Notes 8, but sadly both Mac Client and Notes 8 Nomad - Notes on a USB stick - will have to wait until 8.0.1, six months or so later.

Next week, I'll dig into Domino 8.
