So, Microsoft wins here too because remote Web access is a default part of the software when it's an add-on in Notes.
Bottom line
The new and enhanced features of Notes 8.5 boost this product and IBM has the platform to eventually come up with a killer app.
All considered, for professional use, the Notes & Domino email platform wins against Exchange/Outlook, in pretty much all domains and again Notes & Domino does much more than just email.
However, IBM will have to work hard to restore some confidence among its clients and partners and to stop criticisms about the Notes client interface. The problem is not the way Notes is coded but the concepts and architecture of the product that are now outdated and need a major rework.
This is late though, very late, and changing the trend will require long term commitments, a clear vision of the products line's future and much development efforts.
