EVENT PREVIEW
IBM, Lotus, and the rocking sounds of Smash Mouth
By Steve Niles

This spring, there's a couple exciting events coming your way in the world of Lotus Notes and Domino.

Lotusphere Europe IBM Software Symposium 2002
On March 20, 2002, registration opened for Lotusphere Europe IBM Software Symposium 2002. The event will be held in Vienna, Austria, on June 10-14, 2002 as part of the IBM Software Symposium 2002 event. At the conference, you'll be able to experience the entire "IBM software universe," as Lotusphere, Planet Tivoli, WebSphere, and Data Management are brought together under one roof for the first time. IBM is touting it as, "Four conferences. One event."

The event is designed to provide you with one-stop for information, education, and networking opportunities. You'll also get new ideas for software solutions and valuable industry insights.

IBM promises the following benefits:

  • Keep your skills up-to-date and increase your value to your organization;
  • Learn how to maximize your current investment in technology;
  • Over 300 education sessions graded for ease-of-selection;
  • Free certification;
  • Over 200 software solutions demos;
  • One-on-one sessions with software experts;
  • New insights into your business technology strategy;
  • Networking opportunities with experts, peers, and Business Partners.

Lotus DevCon @IBM developerWorks Live!
Lotus DevCon 2002 @ IBM developerWorks Live! is set to run May 7-10 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. More than 5000 people are expected at the conference. Again, this a merger of IBM conferences. In this case, it's Lotus DevCon 2001, WebSphere 2001, and Solutions.

The conference agenda has over 400 hours of technical sessions, hands-on labs, "Meet the Developers," and birds-of-a-feather sessions scheduled. These programs are designed to help Web developers and IT executives lead next generation development. Sessions are distributed across four tracks and cover approximately ten product and technology areas. New Lotus DevCon 2002 sessions are available. You can check out the Advanced Program Guide to read up on the more than 50 elective sessions, 12 birds-of-a-feather sessions, and two hands-on labs that have just been added.

The Solutions Center is a showcase of IBM e-business technology as well as Business Partner solutions and services. There you'll be able to try out the latest technologies and discuss your needs, one-on-one, with system, Web, and solutions experts.
