A guide for comparing Notes/Domino and Exchange We're often asked about the differences between the Notes and Domino solution and Microsoft Exchange. It would be politically easy (given we're a Lotus-related publication) to rave about Notes and pan Exchange. But our approach is to give you the facts and let you choose. The key fact you need to consider when comparing both products is that they are considerably different products, and so apples-to-apples comparisons won't work. In this informative article, Bart Myers looks at the issues involved in comparing Notes and Domino to Exchange and provides some healthy guidelines on how to look at the two solutions.
Richard's guide to Lotusphere It's articles like this that make DominoPower so incredibly good (if we do say so ourselves). Lotusphere in Orlando is the Big Story for January and Senior Technical Editor Richard Echeandia tells you everything you ever wanted to know about how have a great show -- including undiscovered spots where you'll probably be able to get Internet access, and lots more. Plus, Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz intersperses irreverent comments based on his years of experience at the show, making this a fun, yet incredibly useful article.
Publishing PowerPoint presentations for Notes and Web clients Dan Velasco had a problem common to many Domino and Notes administrators: how do you make a PowerPoint presentation available to Notes clients and Web browsers at the same time? If you've ever wondered this, read Dan's article. It'll outline the entire solution.
It's the email, stupid! Our friends at Microsoft have sure been in the news a lot lately. Unfortunately (for them), this time it's not because they're announcing new products, but because the US Justice Department is prying deeply into their affairs. If you take the myopic view and think everything's OK because it's just Microsoft, think again. Everything you send and receive in your company's email could be subject to the same microscopic scrutiny. If you want to protect yourself and your company, you better read this article!
Managing clusters and intra-cluster traffic This is DominoPower Magazine. Never let it be said that we didn't spin those propellors on your head. In this advanced article, Sergey Kagolovsky takes you through the process of configuring multiple clusters and reducing the load of intra-cluster traffic. It's nice, light, bedtime reading for us all.
Take WebDrive out for a spin At DominoPower, we try to be conscious of the "whole Domino" experience. We're beginning a new series called "WebMaster's Toolkit". In this series, we'll look at products that are not specific to Notes and Domino but may yet help you manage your Domino Internet site. These are products that we've evaluated and found most helpful, useful, and valuable. Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz kicks off the series with WebDrive, a fabulous tool that will make any remote FTP site appear to be a local hard drive on your Windows 95/98 systems.

FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
It's a small world You might not expect social commentary in a technical magazine like DominoPower, but sometimes the real world asserts itself when you least expect it. Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz dedicates this issue of DominoPower to a female Notes administrator who was most unfairly treated, late one night at Newark airport.
PROGRAMMING POWER
