DOMINOPOWER MAGAZINE - APRIL 1999
Build your own database analysis tool
Contributing editor Dan Velasco's back with another incredibly helpful article. Fortunately, this month he hasn't put his life at risk to bring you this great tutorial. In this article, Dan shows you how to build a database analysis tool that can tell you all about your use of Notes on your computer. If you want to push your development skills to the max, read this article. The cool thing, though, is you don't need to be a super-programmer to understand it.

A review of the R5 client from a messaging perspective
It's perhaps the most anticipated new software release since, well, the last big software release. But is R5 really worth all the fuss? More to the point, is R5 really worth the effort and cost to upgrade? In this first of many DominoPower articles on Lotus new Release 5, Jon Johnston provides a detailed look at the new Notes client from a messaging perspective. The short answer is that the new client is most cool. You'll have to read Jon's article for the details.

How to choose and find low cost Domino hosting providers
While it's incredibly easy to find someplace to host your Web site if you're writing your own HTML, finding an ISP that'll host a Domino site is much more difficult. In this incredibly timely article, John Roling explains how to choose a low cost Domino hosting provider and provides you with pointers to some of the best.

How to generate Doc files for handheld devices from Notes
If you've ever used a Palm Computing device, you're probably familiar with Doc files. Files saved in this format can be easily downloaded and viewed on your Palm device using one of many popular Doc viewer applications. Users of Windows CE devices can also view Doc files using the DOCview application. This article by Mark Lawson shows you how to easily create uncompressed Doc e-text databases using just LotusScript. Pretty soon, all your Notes notes will be in the palm of your hand.

A sneak peek at Lotus Enterprise Integrator 3.0
If you want to transfer data between Notes and Domino and an "outside" system, you're going to need some help. Until recently, that help was provided by NotesPump. Lotus has renamed NotesPump to Lotus Enterprise Integrator and added a bunch of new features. In this valuable "sneak peek", Jennifer Regnault provides a detailed look at the features of the Lotus Enterprise Integrator beta. As is often the case, you heard it here first.

Why Internet mail gets out of control and how to avoid going postal
All network administrators seem, on some days, to run the risk of going postal. Fear not. DominoPower Technical Editor Ron Herardian can help you reduce some of the stress of managing a network. How? By helping you take control of email growth within your organization. It might not have the romance of Prozac, but reading this article might help feel a bit more like you're in control of your network and your stress level.

DOMINOPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
BookIdeas.com
DominoPower readers know we like to stretch our limits. This month, News Editor Heather McDaniel actually figured out how to get Howard Stern into DominoPower and still be true to the mission of the publication. Hee hee. Kinda makes you feel warm all over. Seriously though, in this issue we've got an exciting DominoPower Site of the Month. If you read Heather's commentary, you'll learn how Douglas Malcolm is using Notes to generate HTML pages for a plain, vanilla IIS server running on Windows NT.

FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Some days it's just so good to be me
Editor-in-Chief David Gewirtz has been taking his megalomania pills again. They're big pills. Big, important pills. He's got a new, exciting magazine, a company with a new, exciting name, and he just won an award for Best Sales and Marketing Strategy from the New Jersey Technology Council. In other words, he's being insufferable again. He's also, vocally -- very vocally -- demanding a foot massage. It's just another month on that roller-coaster column we call "From the Editor-in-Chief".

PROGRAMMING POWER
Domino 5.0 LotusScript enhancements: the NotesReplication class
Release 5 is shipping and now it's time to deploy new solutions. One of the cooler aspects of any new release is that you get to use the new features in your projects. One of the cooler new features at the LotusScript level is the NotesReplication class. If you're a LotusScripter, read Tony Patton's article today and you'll be merrily replicating by tomorrow.
